Where Does FFN Come From?
We began our mission when a local grocery co-op manager approached us, seeking a better way to connect their local consumers with local farmers and artisans. Together, we created an online grocery co-op management system that embodies our shared values of local food sovereignty and generating revenue for the community.
The Journey We Took with Our First Client
Five years ago, we were approached by a market owner who was frustrated with several everyday aspects of running an online farmers’ market. Working closely with her, we developed a new online marketplace that overcame issues most online market venues face today.
She sought a better customer experience for those interested in farmers’ and artisan market products. Although many choices existed for online venues, none specifically catered to this industry with the professional touch her market deserved. She needed a platform that was intuitive, easily searchable, and capable of handling growth over time.
She also wanted to better manage her online market. Her previous platform was time-consuming, with little automation for routine tasks. She needed to manage her market efficiently, passing that ease of use to her vendors as well.
During the early months of the pandemic, the need for a home delivery option became clear. We responded immediately and implemented delivery request capabilities on the site within a week. This dynamic change was a lifeline for many of her immune-compromised customers, allowing her market to serve community members no other food system could reach. Despite the challenges, her sales kept growing.

Over the next year, the market saw 40% growth. In late 2019, just as COVID caused significant turmoil in conventional markets, this market re-opened and experienced significant growth.
The market experienced 20% year over year growth, and has set sales records over the last 3 years as they become more relied on by their vendors and customers. We’ve been there with them as this market grew from a warehouse pick-up point to a brick and mortar grocery co-op complete with our online market management system.
